New Era Starting for Himachali Film industry with First-Ever Pahadi Film Festival 2027* it will help to laid down,Develop and bring the revolution in Himachal Film industry,
Himachal has stepped into a new chapter with the foundation of its own dedicated film industry now officially set. For the very first time, Himachali cinema will be created with Himachali stories, Himachali faces, Himachali language, and Himachali direction. This marks the end of a long wait for local artists who until now did not have a proper platform to showcase their talent.
In an exclusive conversation with Denik Jagran,Denik Bhaskar and ‘Pehli Nazar’, Dr. Naresh Kumar Kaundal, Director of Himachal Got Talent, announced the launch of ‘Pahadi Films Festival 2027’. He described the festival as the beginning of a new era for Himachali and Pahadi cinema. “Our artists and creators have been working alone for years. They carried talent, passion, and stories born from pahadi soil, but they lacked guidance. PFF-2027 will now provide that direction and platform,” Dr. Kaundal stated. “This festival has become the foundation stone for Himachal’s film industry.”
Industry experts are calling this festival a major turning point for Himachal. Under the new guidelines, 70 percent of dialogues in every film will be compulsory in Pahadi language. The aim is to ensure that films are made by Himachalis, for Himachalis. The festival will be open to all creators including YouTubers, folk artists, short film makers, and dancers, giving them a professional stage to present their work. Leaders believe this initiative will also help in reducing the migration of artists and will create new employment opportunities within the state. Welcoming the move, Nati King Kuldeep Sharma said it will open new paths for upcoming talent.
To give Pahadi cinema national recognition, winners of the festival will be offered prime-time TV slots, support to pitch their projects to industry experts, and official industry ID cards to work directly in the entertainment sector. In a landmark move, the existing *’HIM CINE AWARD’*, which has been held earlier for Uttarakhand, Jammu and Himachal by Him TV, will now be expanded. The 2027 edition will include Himachali Pahadi short films, web series, and feature films, along with Bollywood films made by Himachali directors and actors. The awards will honor talent across more than 15 categories including Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Music Director, and Best Song, bringing regional and national cinema under one platform.
PFF-2027 will function on three core principles. The first is Language First with 70 percent Pahadi dialogues made mandatory. The second is Talent Over Fame where story and skill will be given priority over big names. The third is a no-profit, no-loss model that will be dedicated entirely to artists.
The announcement has received massive support from the industry. Singer Karnail Singh Rana, Filmmaker Polararam Dhangwala, Vickya Rajta, Bollywood Director Pawan Sharma, and several other film personalities have praised the initiative and congratulated the people of Himachal. Actor Rohtash Gaud also welcomed the move and termed it a very positive step for Himachal. Chairman of Green Hills Engineering College, Kripal Singh Pasricha, described it as a landmark moment for the future of the state. More than 50 personalities including Achhar Singh Parmar, S.D. Kashyap, senior journalist Rakesh Kasthuria, and Him TV MD Seema Kaundal have also backed the initiative as a golden opportunity for Himachali artists.
Dr. Kaundal further said that PFF-2027 will not remain limited to films alone. It will bring a wave of change in music, web series, fashion, stand-up comedy, and dance, and will give Pahadi culture a strong new identity across the country.

Online registrations for the festival will begin from 1st July 2026 and will continue till 10th February 2027. The festival will be held from 4th to 6th March 2027 in Solan.
